ACOA Meeting- Adult Children of Alcoholics

Hi

I am thinking of starting up a meeting for Adult Children of Alcoholics in the St Albans area. I see from the ACOA website that there is no meeting locally. Just wondering whether there are other parents out there who might be interested. I am firstly trying to get an idea whether others are interested before I find a hall, location, an evening to meet.

Basically the support group/meeting is for anyone whose main carer is an alcoholic or recovering alcoholic and the meetings work through the 12 steps. This is a very basic overview. The website for ACOA is attached.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello, I'm not familiar with ACOA but I know there are several weekly Al-Anon meetings (for families of alcoholics) in St Albans - one of my friends found them great when she was having a terrible time with her alcoholic husband and her adult step-children were also made very welcome there. I don't know to what extent they provide any kind of specialist support for (adult) children though.

Wish you all the best with it.
