Hi there

We are hoping to move to TW early next year with a DS 2.5 and new baby due in March. It would be great to get some honest views on the commute as both myself and DH need to get into London. DH currently to Putney.

Is it a reliable service, do you get a seat etc and any other insight that would help would be great????!

Not sure where in TW we will go so any insight on areas and the commute/schools would be great.

Big thanks!

Hi, I commute from T Wells / Highbrooms every day and have done for years. You learn the trains that are good for seats in the morning, it takes just under the hour most of the time. It sounds a long time but its enough to switch off! the service is reliable most of the time, Snow is the biggest issue though, we tend to get a bit cut off as trains come up from hastings in the morning and that area is the first to get snowed in but its not that often! TW is a big commuter town as are the outlying villages which are very pretty. Depends on budget as to area some are more expensive than others and school areas are an influence on that.
good luck with the move!

We moved from SE London just over a year ago. I work p/t and go in to London 2 days a week, DH every day. It takes about an hour but we plan our trains well (around nursery drop off & pick up) and to be honest it's not that different from what we were doing in London once you factor in waiting for trains.

Our DCs are 2 & 1, so I'm the best person on schools, but from what I understand they are all pretty good. Think lots choose school catchment first, then house.

Love TW - best move we could have made and don't regret it for a second.
