dd turning 8....help

TimrousBeastie · 31/10/2011 22:01

I would really like to have a party for dd who's 8 next month butI have no idea what to do for it. Ideally I don't want to have it at home (really need to redecorate-kitten has destroyed the livingroom :)) and don't want to go into ridiculous prices.

Something west end/city centre would be ideal- does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations?

thank you

Sportykids... haven't actually been to the one in the west end but the one in Southside is alright as far as softplay madness goes.

Otherwise you could arrange a visit to the newly relocated Lifecraft (now in DeCourcy's) to do some ceramic painting? I'm sure Vonnie could whip up an awesome cake for you with enough notice given

2nd life craft, new shop is lovely, and they will be well taken care of by Vonnie

What about ten pin bowling at Springfield Quay? Or, and this is not quite what you were looking for location wise, what about a trip to the climbing centre place on Paisley Road West? Or the cinema? They do kids parties on Saturday mornings at the Grosvenor.

Swimming party? I know the Gorbals pool does them and I guess the others would as well.

Or yes to a craft type one. Lifecraft or I think there's another place on Great Western Road.

An Clachan, the cafe in Kelvingrove Park do children's parties - I've just seen signs up so I don't know what they involve though.

We went to cinema then fast food joint afterwards for DD1's 8th. Kids loved it and I gave them their party bags (full of sweets of course Grin) at the start of the film so no crap to take home.

TimrousBeastie · 02/11/2011 11:14

thanks for the ideas. Have emailed the lifecraft as that seems to be the most popular idea and if that can't happen will try to do a cinema thing- it can't be the saturday morning at the grosvenor though as she has singing then.

thanks again

DD did Crazy Golf at Braehead and that was very popular

Also kids film at GFT followed by Pizza went down well

Also puppet making at the puppet theatre

still haven't booked anywhere- she has decided on a cinema and lunch thing though but its a pain that I can't get the cinema times until the week before.
would sending out an invite with only a rough plan that will be confirmed the week before be ok?

thanks for all your help

You could always do the early cinema showing, where kids get in for £2 (or something like that). Odeons do early morning film showings, it is not the most up to date fim, but not sure the kids will really care. Think it is called Odeon Kids. As long as they think they are all going together much fun will be had.

We took our daughter to the odeon for a morning film (the film, usually starts at 11am) paid £2.50 for each child to get in. I took a bag of sweets and a small can of juice for each child. Then we went to mcdonalds straight after.

The invites we gave out, stated the meeting point was the cinema, and pick up back from there again.

We ended up having the kids for about 3 hours, so think kids and their parents were very happy.

Pizza Hut do kids parties for £6.99 per head and they get to make their own pizzas. Xx

I was at a party in Sportykids in Maryhill at the weekend and it was very cramped. My dd went to a cinema birthday and loved it. Also going sledging at Snozone at Escape fpr a party.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 08/02/2012 23:45

it's more expensive at pizza express but apparently v good fun. would also recommend place on gt western road for decoupage, dd went to a party there and loved it. damselfly, is it? or there is a climbing wall in govan that i want to do a party at one day... what else? oh yes, i think the stand does children's comedy afternoons.
