Relocation to London

Hi guys,

Theres a big possibility that hubby will be relocated to London for a year in December. The company has offered us a relocation package to go with him as his work will require him to be on call 24/7, not that he'll work that but he needs to be around at weekends in case he's needed, thus meaning he wouldn't get home very often. We have discussed our options at length and at the moment we have come to a 90% decision that we'll all relocate for the year.

The company he'll be working for is based in Croydon. I would be very grateful if any of you know the area could answer a few questions for me. We have two children aged 5 and 8, at present they are in Senior Infants and 2nd class, school has already said it was okay for older child to come home and make communion here, so he'll be happy enough with that, both kids are pretty laid back and I don't think the move will phase them.

What areas would you suggest for us to live in, we'd be happy enough moving a bit outside Croydon as I've always wanted ot live a bit rural, once hubby can easily commute, but he doesn't want too long a commute either. From this are there any schools you would reccomend? Whats the cost of living like? Is there much for families, kids, mammies to do? Any other information you think would be of importance?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Gracied

You don't say anything about your budget, but ideally I would look into Shirley, Purley, Coulsdon, Sanderstand. All a bit remote and the best areas in Croydon. Not sure about the schools, but I am sure there will be a good selection in these areas. Good luck!
