Richmond Primary Schools - Vineyard vs Marshgate

Hi - We are in the catchment of both Vineyard and Marshgate primary school and need to put one in priority to the other for my daughter to start in Sep 2012.

Can you let me know your recent experiences with either of these 2 schools and your opinions.

Thanks -

I have heard great things about both schools, so you're spoilt for choice, so to speak.

We have one child at the Vineyard, and it's great. There is lots of open space, the kids seem really caring toward each other and the school offers lots of great trips and activities. Academically it seems to do well in ofsted, but I know some parents feel their kids aren't at the level they expect (eg. not great deal of homework, which we find great!) - but we are very happy with our child's academic performance. To us primary school is learning "the basics" and fostering a love of learning, which the Vineyard definitely fulfills for us.

Friends at Marshgate are happy there, but no specific information that I can recall about it.

You need to go and see them both, if you haven't already, as it's a very personal thing and what one parent likes about a school, another will not. I've got 3 DCs at one of those schools and like all of them in Richmond, it's really good (outstanding ofsted for what it's worth).
