Meeting mums

Hi
I am a newbie to St Albans (one month in) and I would really like to meet some mums. Trouble is I am not finding it easy - I am currently working from home 5 half days a week while my children (10 months and 2.5 years) are in nursery. It seems a lot of the baby and toddler play groups run in the morning and by the time I get back from nursery we usually just have time to head to the park or the shops (you're really spoiled here :) ). Some information about me - I am in my early thirties - okay heading to mid thirties :o. We are an outdoorsy family - got a camper, like cycling, hiking, skiing. It would be really nice to meet up with some other mums for chit chat. If you would be interested in meeting up one afternoon it would be great to hear from you. We live in AL1. Also if anyone can recommend any playgroups that run in the afternoon so that I can take both kids along then that would be fab!

Hi there!

We've just moved to St Albans (last week) and keen to meet other mums too. I have a 10 month old son and also work part time from home (Although haven't found a nursery yet)

Whereabouts are you? We are Fleetville (AL1) Would love to meet for a coffee or walk in the park!

Hello there,
Just move in St albans ( on watford road near the midway surgery ) we are from San FRancisco :)...i am 36 years old and i have a 2 years old and a 4 month old both are boys ! like you i dont know anyone yet and morning are rather busy for us and i will love to figure out some playdates on the afternoons for the kids and biscuits and tea for the mums maybe :).
My home is open to anyone that will be interested ! ( we have two big receptions rooms and one of them is for the kids to play in and a big garden and terrace ) .
Its hard for me to go to places yet as i am do get use to drive on the left side on the road before i can take the kids in the car with me .
Excuse my spelling i am actually French !

Hello that sounds nice - the biscuits and tea part :). Would be great to meet up with you ladies. I haven't quite got to grips with how Mumsnet messaging works yet but I should some how be able to send you a private message to arrange a time to meet up.

a little bit about us !
Like i said i am 36 and i have the two boys ...like you we love the outdoors and most the time take the kids out as much as we can ...in San Francisco we were spoiled with ZOO and Academy of science , the beach near by etc...:)
MY husband is also in his mid 30 and works during the week long hours but he get to work from home on wednesday and he is off during the week end ( he is a senior HR manager for his office here Canada and Australia so he will be traveling a lot meaning i need as much friends as i can get !!! lol ).
i am pretty lay back and relax as person ...and i try to enjoy by boys as much as i can ...i use to be a owner of a flower shop in San Francisco but it took us almost 3 years to get pregnant with Trystan and thanks to clomid we got there...but i had a shitty pregnancy with a lots of problems so as soon as he was born i stop my shop and now i just take care of my kids ... ( We got Castiel our second with Clomid as well :) ).

Hi there, moving to St Albans from London at the end of April and would be keen to meet and share a coffee with some other new in St Albans mums. I too am in my early thirties, (hubby is 40) and have a daughter who will be about 9 months when we make the move. Like you Miel, my husband also has a lot of time working away from home so my friends have come to be a very important part of my life as a mum.
Josie is used to a weekly playdate with other babies at the moment and I'm really keen to try and keep this going for her (and me!) once we move. Hope to hear from you all!

Of course more we are better it will be :) ! Sound like your baby is about the age of my second son Castiel then ? Castiel was born on September 28 :)
April will be a great month to move ...was hard for us to make the move right on the middle of winter !lol
From my back garden we only have a gate to pass trough and behind it there is park ! great for the kids ...but hoping to use water play table on the deck for them for this summer etc...

Hello, I'm on maternity leave with my second - now have a son who is 7 weeks along with my daughter who is just 2. Have lived in st Albans for a couple of years but don't know many other mums - it would be nice to meet up with anyone who's up for it. This thread's been going a few weeks so maybe some of you have already met up? Or happy to try to coordinate something if it's helpful. I live in Al1 also, but also drive.

Just seen this thread. I live near Clarence Park and have two sons - a 4-year-old and a baby of 9 months. Would love to meet some more mums locally as I've been very slack about socialising since we moved here a couple of years ago and I really miss having a good group to hang out with!

Hi ladies

I am in the early stages of pregnancy and while I love living in St Albans my main friends network are either childless or too far away for coffee and chat meetings...........

I would love to meet mums to be and new mums to chat to about life and ask 'silly' questions about everything

I live at the bottom of town and can drive or happily walk - well until the hill gets too much for me - to most places in town.

It would be lovely to meet new people

Hi, do you all know about the NCT yahoo group? You don't need to be a member to join. Google NCTStAlbans yahoo group. It's got about 400 mums on it and I met my second baby group via it. Very good for asking about playgroups and coffee afternoons and so on.

(4yo and 11mo near Clarence Park - juneau I wonder if I know you we seem v similar!!)

Hello ladies - it would be great to meet some more Mums :). I am a member of the NCT yahoo group and posted on there. I didn't get many responses to be honest but the Mums that did respond are really lovely :). We could arrange a meet up at Verulamium Park or Clarence Park? If you are interested send me a private message. My daughter is nearly 3 and my son is 13 months but seems much older - he seems to have learnt the art of defending his toys very early ;) . I haven't met any Mums in AL1 - TheZee - whereabouts are you? I am off Victoria Street.

Bella - perhaps we'd recognise each other if we met. I'm sure we must have been in the Clarence Park playground at the same time at some point. Yesterday I was there twice!

Nicola there are also local NCT meetings you can go to if you have a look at NCT St Albans They also run bumps and babes on a Friday afternoon if you are at a loose end.

well Im the opposite--have 1 14 year old boy and moved back here after 8 years in Canterbury and a very short sojourn in Windsor (couldnt stick the planes-horrendous)

Would love to meet mums with older children as Im no longer at the stage of meeting anyone at the school gates. Work full time running a record label with hubby but am chatty , friendly and not remotely media luvviesh. Also would love to join a book club or something similarly socialish? any suggestions?

I like reading(big fan of woman and home and the Guardian/Sunday Times), politics, , eating and drinking and holidays!

I'm new here, I can see that most messages are way back 2011, your kids must be grown ups now, just trying this site if someone would notice my message....mum of 5months old little girl lives in St. Albans would love to chat/meet up if there's any😊
