For anyone interested in Abbey and Trinity wards. Tonight I attended the meeting about the proposed boundary changes that would see most of wimbledon south and east of Centre Court moved into Mitcham constituency .

The are a number of plans to oppose this and an alternative proposal to keep Abbey and Trinity in Wimbledon have been put forward.
E-mails; draft letters and petitions will be circulated. An opposition deadline of 5th December has been set. If you wnat to opoose this please get involved and please spread the word.
I have the contacts for the coordinating councillors if this is required.

Thanks wobbly pig. i have just signed the Merton Council e-petition, opposing Constituency Boundary Changes from Wimbledon to Mitcham but it looks like it has gathered very small interest, only 55 signatures so far!. Also you mention e-mails/draft petitions etc to be circulated. Do you know who is doing all this work?. We live in the most effected area and none of my neighbours know what to do or aware of the 5th of December deadline. Is anyone in charge? thx

if interested in here is the online petition. Deadline is 5th December.

this petition already has nearly 500 signatures. But they need much more from the residents of Wimbledon.. deadline is Monday December 5 and written responses can be sent to Boundary Commission: consultation.boundarycommissionforengland.independent.gov.uk/

There is also a very good update and summary of wimbledon MP Stephen Hammond's feable response! can be read here:

Hello! we are a group of residents who are disgruntled at the lack of interest on the matter from local councillors and politicians and have got together to do something about this proposal that will see our community split in two. If you want to get involved to ensure as many residents hear about this proposal and have the chance to make their voices heard please do get in touch. Please sign the on-line petition at petitions.merton.gov.uk/epetition_core/community/petition/40 or sign the petition in person at the Post Office 104 Kingston road. Thank you!

It is appalling. Has eveyone written to the boundary commission. Deadline 5/12/11
At the local meeting it was decided that there would be letter writing and also a petition per road - ours is still recruiting signatures.

have you heard of anyone who thought that splitting the WIMBLEDON town centre right through the middle is a good idea? It is a bizarre proposal and there is still time to say NO to changes. Consultation deadline is 5th December.. Please please pass the details of this website which has a direct link to e-petition etc to all your friends and neighbours in SW19:
