Good doctors in Teddington?

Hi,

We're moving to Teddington, and I'd love to get recommendations for a good GP to register with - who is good with children, as well as mums (and dads!). As we both work, good opening hours and decent availability for appointments would also be a plus... Any tips would be much appreciated!

What side of Teddington will you be on?

I'm afraid I only have a negative recommendation. We are with Drs de Bruyne, Kendall and Childs on Teddington High Street (think it's called Thameside practice?). Three women, nice premises, good location, but sadly I honestly cannot recommend them, and will be changing doctors soon. Most people I know who go to them don't seem to rate them either.

Dr Brockbank's surgery. It is on Park Road. Not sure what the practice is called, but friends with children with fairly complex needs, rate them highly.

thoroughly second Hester, and I also moved away from them. Only the fact that I was in an extremely difficult pregnancy and postnatal situation and had zero spare energy stopped me from lodging a complaint, despite being asked to by PALS (patient liaison and advice service)....I regret it now, but it's too long ago.

Park Road Surgery has very parent friendly surgeries - is v near Teddington Station, so husband often gets flu or other jabs on way to work, from 7.30am at least one day a week and prebookable. IME no worse than other local surgeries for ease of getting appointments.

There is a GP surgey attached to the Walk in centre at Teddington Memorial Hospital which has very long hours but I have no experience at all of it, even anecdotally.

Acorn Group Practice Holly Road Twickenham v v good; I live in Teddington but think that it is excellent. It does cover some of Teddington area even now.

Acorn practice - Drs ok but admin is a shower . Wont go into details but have had several episodes where they cocked up really badly (one of which meant I couldn't get into any local hospital to have my baby). That said if Its hours and access it is good- they Are near Twickenham station and do some evening surgeries

Sorry to hijack this but there seems to be some good knowledge of Twickenham GPs here... We are about to move to within a few hundred metres of the Oak Lane surgery (where the health visitor clinics are held). Anyone know much about the GPs there or would I be better off forgetting to tell the excellent Richmond Lock Surgery I've moved...?

We've been with Cross Deep surgery for 4yrs, have yet to change to a Teddington surgery Blush. No idea how they compare to Oak Lane or Acorn but I've been very happy with the service here and they've been really good with appointments especially for the kids.

i would recommend Hampton wick surgery on Kingston road if you are that end of teddington

We have been with the York Medical Practise in Oak Lane for 15 years. There are actually two surgeries in Oak Lane but this is the larger one, not the one by the petrol station. We have had some exceptional care from them through some complex medical problems. Only drawback is that for anything urgent you have to ring at 8am same day and hang on the phone until you get through, not something you always feel up to if feeling ill with something that is urgent, or dealing with a child with an urgent problem and then it is pot luck with the doctors, and sometimes all appointments are taken within the hour. Having said that we have never not been able to get an appointment if it is genuinely urgent. Getting an appointment with your choice of named doctor can take weeks and there does seem to be a bit of a turnover in doctors apart from three or four stalwarts and some of the support staff, nurses, phlebotomists etc can be variable, but I suspect you would get that anywhere. We do not have little children though, but very good with teens.

I'm fine with Thameside surgery, been with them for more than one year now. We're mainly seeing Dr De Bruyne and Dr Childs and I don't really have anything bad to say, they listen to you, they explain things adequately, they are open to trying different things. The nurse is a nice lady. Reception staff is ok, sometimes brisk on the phone; wait times can be an issue sometimes but it's not that bad, isn't that an issue all over NHS anyway? I try to schedule appointments first thing in the morning so I'm avoiding that. A few times I was able to get an appointment same day or next day, for my child.

Park Road are great. Always get emergency appts and nicely situated on the way to the station
