Places to live near York

Hi everyone,

I may soon (hopefully) have a new job in Normanton, near Wakefield. I don't know Yorkshire at all, and wondered if anyone could recommend nice places to live between York and Wakefield?

I live in a village called Bishopthorpe, on the outskirts of York. It's a bit of a way from Wakefield, as very close to York, but it's only 20 mins from the M1, so depends on how much of a commute you want. It's a great village - real sense of community, close to York, good schools etc
