Double bike trailers

Hi, does anyone use a double Croozer child bike trailer around Cambridge? I'm thinking of buying one but am not sure it will fit through the cattle grid barriers on the parks/commons? Has anyone got any experience before I go on a measuring mission?

Yes, we have one. Only bought it this summer so I haven't tried lots of routes yet.

But so far it works fine eg from Bateman Street across the common to Lamas Land. The cattle grid there is quite wide.

In Cherry Hinton there's one place with barriers you have to zigzag round which is very awkward because the trailer's turning circle is too large.

Snakey Path (down behind St Bede's school) is fine, despite narrowness.

I'm a bit jealous of my friend who has one of those bikes with a box at the front for the children, because it's undeniably nippier. On the other hand I find it useful that I can unclip the trailer and use it as a pushchair in the supermarket or botanical garden.

Yes I've got one. I cycle from just off castle hill, through town over bridge street and over Jesus green over the castle grids and barriers to the fort st George bridge. That's the tricky bit if you have to stop just before turning left to go over the bridge! The boot is huge. We got ours from the cycle shop next to patisserie Valerie as they did the best deal. Station cycles have them to look at. I got the baby seat as an extra which has proved worth the money.

I know this is a bit late but if you buy them directly from the Netherlands online it's much cheaper and arrives faster than if you order them through a shop in Cambridge. We got the trailer and baby support direct for much less than Station Cycles charge just for the trailer.

Hi labmonkey. Do you have a website reference?

I ended up importing mine from Holland and saved £100. I used Fietspunt.nl.
