Hi - we've just moved to Bookham from Kingston and trying to rebuild my support group!! Any recommendations on good cleaners or babysitters would be gratefully received!! Or any good things to do locally other than Brocketts/Polesden Lacey. (have a 3yo, 10month old & puppy). Thanks for any replies.

Hi Kirsten,

I live down the road in Cobham, don't know that much about Bookham except there is a surestart centre but Cobham has loads of playgroups etc that are very close - if you google Cobham Mums there is a good website that lists them. Wisley is a fab place to visit thats not too far, and as for cleaners I use D and I who I can highly recommend (though don't let them charge you more than 9.50 an hour!). Hope that helps....

Have you tried the Barn Hall toddler group? Having moved to Bookham when on maternity leave, I found that was a great way to meet other mums. Regardless of which schools the children went on to, we've kept meeting up over the years.

Things to do - you've probably found most by now, but mine loved Bookham Common ponds for ducks and walks, pond-dipping at Nower Wood (education centre on Box Hill) and the Wildlife centre in Leatherhead, Chessington (zoo, sealife centre and plenty of rides suitable for tinies), Horton Farm, the soft-play at Leatherhead Leisure Centre, the leisure pool at Guildford Spectrum
