Moving to Almondsbury / North Bristol

Hi, I feel like I have posted on here quite a lot asking about different areas, as our move to Bristol has been going on forever, but I think we are now settled on Almondsbury, and have hopefully found a house there.

I have a 3.10yo ds and a 1yo ds, so would be really grateful for any suggestions of what might be going on that I can get them (and me) involved in - I'm happy to travel down to WOT area if there's more happening there. So classes, preschool, any other groups that people would recommend as good fun and especially friendly.

Plus if anyone knows Almondsbury, it would be great to hear more about what it's like to live there.

I'm slightly more anxious having read the Chat thread about how Bristol isn't friendly to newcomers! Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Hi, think there should be quite a bit going on in Almondsbury for you not to have to keep going to Westbury. I know there is a good pre-school there-Little Almonds.
I am sure there will be local toddler groups. We live just near Easter Compton (nearish to Almondsbury) and there is a lovely toddler group there and also some in Severn Beach.
My little one is 7 now but we moved here when he was almost 3 and have fitted in really well.

lovely place. We moved here from London when my daughter was 1. It is very friendly. WOT is close for clubs- we did Gymboree which is fab. In Almondsbury itself there is a music class called Sing a song tots in the old school hall. My daughter loves that. Also has a Toddler group on Tuesdays. Bradley Stoke Leisure centre nearby and has a newly refurbished soft play in it. libraries close at bradley Stoke and Thornbury. It is a nice area and generally friendly. Village shop is a good place to go to ask for tips- ladies and gent helpers in there are generally lovely. If you have a chance volunteer to help yourself and you will meet lots of locals.

Thanks all! Well we got the house we were hoping for, so we will be moving there soon! Trying not to think of everything that has to be done before then ...

Hi everyone, finally after lots of looking on and off we will move we won't!!! we think Almondsbury could be the place if we do move. However one issue is we have been told that there can be a really bad smell in the village from the dairy farms and flies are a real issue. Any information would be a great help as really love the village but worried, also any information on the new surfing centre and effect on the village would also be good. Apologies to go on just want to make the right decision!!

Thanks
