Baby and Toddler Groups/Meeting other mums

Hi

I'm looking for a baby and toddler group to take my 11 month old daughter to. She's grown out of the baby groups so we're looking for something else to do and for me to meet other mums as I'm feeling a bit isolated.

She loves music, other babies and climbing about. She's not walking yet but spends a lot if time on her feet and cruising about. Are there any groups that have lots if toys but with bit of structure with activities and song? And are friendly and welcoming? I work Wednesdays and Fridays and we live in montpelier.

Have you tried the children's centres at St Werburghs and St Pauls? There's also a toddler group at the Elim church on Jamaica Street but I haven't been to it. Easton leisure centre does parent and baby swimming classes and Kingsdown has a soft play session if you want something more active.

Parkway (a church) in St Werburghs has groups. I seem to remember they had a song at the end of the session which is just about all you can hope for in terms of structure for under 1s. It's a long time since I did toddler groups (over ten years!) but they used to have more structured groups as the children get a bit older, a '2s group' for instance.

List of bitch 'n titch groups in Bristol

It says that Parkway is only from 2.5 so it might be worth giving them a call to see if that's correct.

There's also the Parkway parent and child project in St Werbs.

if you can make it over to Barton Hill Settlement their groups are great - always some structured craft / activities with friendly and dedicated playworkers. It's on Tues / Weds / Thurs and open all over the summer hols (huzzah)

You should check out MamaBe at Portico Play off the Gloucester Road. They are having a FREE trial session on Thursday 3rd November (sounds like a wonderful group)...

I used to go to Ivy Church, just at the bottom of Ashley Down Road to a lovely group on Wednesday mornings, which I think is still running.

Parkway also has lots of groups, with something going on pretty much each morning. There's a stay and play type groups, but also a proper playschool / nursery which would be the over 2 bit. If you know where the Duke of York pub is, it's just over from there.

There's also a sign up in Mina Road Park for a new group at the Wild Goose Space (the community room in the self build in St Werbs).

That should keep you busy for a while!
