Saving Bromley Libraries

For all those Mums/Dads/Grandparents who regularly use Bromley Libraries for Baby Bounce and Rhyme, Story Time, Toddler Time and the Summer Reading Challenge can I direct your attention to the fact that Bromley Council have agreed to share library services with Bexley Council which will mean the loss of nearly half the library jobs across the two boroughs. For those who want to protect the libraries services for our children please visit and support the "Save Bromley Libraries" group on Facebook www.facebook.com/groups/122297724529615
Thanks

Are they closing libraries or stopping these services? Is there info about this somewhere?

www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/9155874.Bromley_and_Bexley_to_share_library_services/

There is an article in the News Shopper, the Council approved merging with Bexley on Wednesday 20th Aug, the merger plans.

Details on the library shared services plan by Bromley Council is below.

cds.bromley.gov.uk/mgConvert2PDF.aspx?ID=8989

Paragraph taken on staff is below - I can't see how they could make those changes without services suffering.

"There are currently 36 staff in Bromley management and back office and 35 Bexley management and back office staff. The proposed new joint structure has 36 posts. The Council has a policy of avoiding compulsory redundancies wherever possible and all efforts will be made to find redeployment across the wider Council for post holders at risk who do not secure a post in the new shared library service. In the event that suitable alternative employment cannot be found however they will be made redundant"
