Can anyone recommend some nice places to eat in Brighton please? DP and are are having some 'time off' and want to know where to go Grin. We need:

A pub for lunch with an outdoor eating area.

Somewhere for a nice meal in the evening - not a 'chain' place, somewhere with some atmosphere. Not too worried about the type of food (except Indian), and happy to pay up to £80 for the two of us.

We will be on foot and staying in the centre of town.

For dinner, Casa don Carlos (tapas place in the Lanes), Terre a Terre (veggie place which we love and we're not veggies), Hotel du Vin (although check prices), Cote.

Not too sure on outside eating pubs, sorry.

Casalingo in Preston Street is the best Italian in town. You will probably need to book

You could try the Chilli Pickle - yes, it's Indian food but it's 'modern' Indian, it's a nice place and the food is very highly rated. Plus the location is easy, right in the heart of town. I think there's a website if you google it.

Failing that, Riddle and Finns is a cosy, romantic fish restaurant in the heart of the Lanes, it gets v busy so you'll need to book. Likewise with the Gingerman, excellent food but gets booked up but v nice for a special occasion.

Pubs with gardens are thin on the ground in the centre but you could always try the Coachhouse whcih is just off the seafront on Middle Street, v near the Lanes, and has a lovely courtyard. It also does reasonable food.

Have fun!
