Anyone's children starting Hillcross Primary School Reception in September?

My son did not get a Reception place in the school where he goes to nursery. He has a place at Hillcross in the Hazelnut Reception class. We live quite a long way from the school (between South Wimbledon and Merton Park), so none of our neighbours or friends go there.

I was thinking it might be a nice idea to meet up with others starting Hillcross Reception in September. It would be really nice to see some familiar faces when we come for our first day at big school! Is any one is interested in getting together over the summer holidays? Maybe we could meet up a couple of times at a park for an hour or so?

Hi, I am looking to transfer my son to Hillcross Primary, can you tell me what your experience has been of it so far. Is it quite impersonal as it's quite a big school and does the teaching style seem successful?

Hello. My daughter goes to Hillcross and is in reception. It was not in my original choice of schools (it is not v near me and I hate driving). However it has been great - you can tell the staff are so proud of their recent 'outstanding' Ofstead report. THey have loads of stuff to do after-school wise and my DD has been on several trips. Her reading is coming on in leaps and bounds - I am v impressed. It IS quite large but thats the way things are in Merton really. Great playing fields too.
