Saw this on the BBC News website today:

Memorial for child victims of UK's worst rail crash

I'd heard of the rail crash, but never about this story. How very, very sad (albeit one more small sadness in a whole ocean of grief that the crash must have caused)

I guess we'll never know the story behind it. I wonder if they had run away from care, for noone to come looking for them?

Just spotted this post - how terribly sad. I have never heard of this rail crash before. Amazing that these children were not missed - no Missing Persons register then obviously. I wonder how young these children were? Am curious now to try and find out more.
