Edinburgh University Day Nursery

Anyone know anything good/bad about the Edinburgh University Day Nursery? Am looking for a nursery for my LO for when I go back to work and have managed to find folk who know about about most of our local nurseries, but not this one.

I haven't used it, but I know it's not very large. I think students and staff may have priority for places?

My cousin's wee one went here while she was at uni. She loved it and her dd had an extra year due to recommended deferal. Her mum really loved the nursery and was very happy but it is only open during the uni term time and tends to be for people working or studying at the uni.

Thanks ladies - there are two nurseries associated with the University - one is up near Bristo Square and is only for staff and students (AFAIK) and the other one is much bigger, in two big detached houses on Dalkeith Road, and is open to everyone. It's the Dalkeith Road one I was looking at - I'm assuming that your cousin used the other one Groovee.

We used the Dalkeith Road place a few years back and loved it. Lower staff turnover than others we looked at, and lovely gardens that were well used. (NB one or two other places had gardens, but couldn't use them much because of agreements with local residents, so do ask.) At least then, it wasn't true that it was only open in university term. I vaguely remember that university students could only use it in term, though - because they have subsidised places or something? Yes, staff and students get priority, but others use the nursery too. One problem was relatively early closing in the afternoon: needed to collect them by 5,20 so couldn't do a full office day.

I am thinking of putting my child to the Dalkeith one next year as I know some mums who have put their childred there and liked it.
