I am a trainee journalist working in Cardiff and I'm writing a feature about slut walking. If you haven't heard of them, the idea is that women are protesting about attitudes towards sexual assault, after a policeman told women if they wanted to avoid sexual assualt then they should not dress like sluts. There is going to be an event in Cardiff on June 4 and I was wondering if any one had any thoughts on girls dressing up as sluts to protest. One of the ideas of the march is reclaiming the word slut. I'm addressing particularly mothers with daughters and I was wondering how you feel about reclaiming the word and whether you would be happy for your daughters to walk around in provocative clothing to make a political point.
I would really appreciate anyone getting back to me to help me out. If you are happy to let me quote you in an article [which will not actually be published publicly - its for a piece of coursework] then I would really appreciate any thoughts!
