i remember from a previous thread that there are a few people in here who have a dd/ds going into p1 at hillhead after the summer and was wondering if anyone has heard anything about visits?

most of my friends have wee ones going into p1s in other schools across the city and they have had at least one visit which i know will be hard seeing as i don't think the school is ready for that (could be wrong though)

just beginning to worry a bit i guess, as ds is asking all the questions that i don't have the answers to and i don't want him to worry about the lack of answers:)

anyone know more than me?

thanks

O yes! I've still got name tapes from when he started at nursery (at 11 months) and I was a leetle overenthusiastic with the labelling...

That's a good point about girls having more options. Maybe I'll go for 3 of each. He'll definitely slitter something down himself every day.

But then, the growth thing... He'd be utterly swamped (even with turned up cuffs) in a 5-6yrs sweatshirt at the moment, but who knows by Christmas? I wish it didn't need to be in in the next 10 days. We could really do without it this month, but the discount on the shop price is quite good.

Suzi I always went with the wash one-dry one-wear one approach to school uniform but if you can, I'd buy supplement with unofficial plain polo shirts.

I miss hearing the chatter about what's happening with the school. And I'll miss seeing you lot popping into the shop once you're nowhere near!

I thought it was fantastic, really impressed everything seemed such good quality. Playground looked like it would be very green, with trees and grass and the 'wooded area' will be nice and I liked the fact they are going to use the 'social space' for larger projects for the young children - messy play, painting etc

Minor criticisms are that the dinner hall/gym is linked to the main building by a tunnel and I think they are going to have to supervise the children going to and from dinner to avoid chaos with large groups of children trying to get in while others get out.

But it's great. Am relieved they are moving this year as the old school building is just awful.

i thought the dinner hall looked awfully small for the amount of kids thats going to be there- i asked if the lunch times were going to be staggered but it was one of those- we'll have to play by ear type answers- never thought about the walk to it though but i can see your point.

also did think the fence was rather short and have visions of ds trying to climb it :)

I was pretty impressed. Ds liked his teacher and had fun in his new class when we were being shown round so all good Smile

It's massive! Can't believe there are 4 P1 classes.

Now to redo my flexi-time spreadsheet & A/L request to cover the settling in period as they're starting later than I'd planned for.

Anyone got any experience of either of the 2 after school clubs that will be on site?
