hello. My daughter is due to start Primary School in Sept this year. The problem is we currently do not have a School, we have been told by lewisham admissions that I can apply for one more School which was not on my orginal application. going on distance from my house I have found that Adamsrill and Kelvin Grove are roughly the nearest Schools to us in Sydenham {tried Eliot bank and was unsucessful}. the problem is Ido not know much about these Schools and want to make the right choice when applying, as can only choose one. have reead both ofsted and both seem good, but wanted to know if anyone had experience with any of the schools, or childeren currently at the school or child that is starting in Sept?
Please help as this is last chance as poss getting a School by sept lol very stressfull. Also sorry last thing would you know which one out of the two would likely have spaces?

I heard that Kelvin Grove was going to expand and take over the adult education institute next door which is closing down, so probably there. I think it got a 'good' for most things on the last Ofsted report. It's a big school already though, and the thought of it getting bigger worries me a bit.

I know nothing about Adamsrill. Where is it? Any chance of a place at St Barts?

Hi - my daughter is at the nursery in Adamsrill - it is a nice school but she has not been allocated a place in reception - 204 children applied for 60 places! And I know of lots of parents of Adamsrilll nursery kids who also mucked up the process - eg missed deadline or didn't realise they needed to apply for reception- so there will be lots of those already on waiting list - including some with siblings already at the school who get priority. So I wouldn't be too hopeful about getting a place at Adamsrill. We have given up hope as we dont have any kids already at the school so will probably be getting pushed down the list by those who do. Sorry :( I was also told by admissions tht thre are pretty much no places at any schools in our area (Sydenham) even the ones further away towards Catford etc - simply too many kids and not enough places. We were allocated a local school not on our application, but don't really think there is much choice at this stage.

My son is in Y1 at Kelvin Grove (changed schools in September) and we've found it great. They're fab at the rewards system, the head's really dynamic and always around and they've got great extracurricular stuff going on. I woul

Don't know anything about Adamsrill, but I live right on the doorstep of St Barts and haven't really seen or heard anything great about it - from friends whose kids go there or from other parents who, like us, chose another school over it.

The best thing is to go and have a look round the schools and get a feel for them yourself.

My dd is in reception at Adamsrill. She started in January and so far we are really happy with it. It has a lovely friendly atmosphere and, because they had a bulge class last year, dd is in a band new log-cabin-style classroom with decking that opens out onto a lovely wooded garden area. There is building work going on to expand other areas of the school too - it seems to be having a general facelift at the moment. I would recommend!

RibenaAddict - just read your post (hadn't read before posting). Sorry - you must think I'm really trying to rub it in! Are you still on the waiting list? If so, wishing you the best of luck with getting a place.
