Primary schools - St George or South Street?

I am trying to decide which to go for on the waiting list. Does anyone have a child at either of these schools, and/or strong opinions?

Thanks.

Is it possible to go on the waiting list for both schools ? I would have thought that places are more likely to come up at St Georges though as city centre schools have more people moving in and out of the area or going private.

Have you considered a private school in South Bristol ? Cleeve House school on the Wells Road is advertising that they have reception places available in September. They allow monthly payment of fees so this could be another option for you.

I have 3 children at Summerhill (infant and junior) schools in St George. Fantastic staff, education and environment (Ofsted report last summer was amazing) I would highly recommend it.

The school has been involved in a wonderful initiative called 'Comenius' - teaming up with schools across Europe which has been a revelation for the children in terms of cultural understand, language and literature. The Christmas assembly based on the countries involved in the programme was simply wonderful.

However I understand that the school was very over subscribed last year - 3 applications to 1 place.

I also know people with children at St Patricks (catholic) and Air Balloon who are very happy. I know nothing about South Street so can offer no opinion but certainly unless you live in the catchment for St George schools I think you will be on a wing and a prayer.

All the best deciding

Sorry, p1001 - I actually meant St George primary school which is on Brandon Hill, rather than any of the primaries in St George itself! Should've made that clearer.

Thanks for your message though, sounds like those schools are great :)
