Let's talk about PND...

Hello,

I'm a Brighton mum of one, involved with the local NCT.

We're planning to write in our next newsletter about post natal depression and are really keen to include a real-life story from someone who has been through it. (It can be totally anonymous if you like but it would be great to have a local mum who's had experience of PND.)

The articles are part of the NCT's 'Big Push' against postnatal depression.

My email is [email protected] - please do drop me an email if you're interested!

Thanks very much,

Sharon

Hi Sharon,
I've just joined mumsnet and noticed your post on PND. I would be interested in telling my story, if I haven?t missed the deadline. I have just emerged from a very bleak ten months and managed to make it through with the support of a very patient partner, some loyal friends and the use of acupuncture, meditation and counselling. The only reason I chose holistic remedies over antidepressants is because I wanted to continue breastfeeding and this was the only safe way I could carry on. It was truly hellish at times, for me and my partner, and I often considered going down the drugs route to help ease my anguish and addled mind but doggedly stuck to my guns and thankfully recovered, with sanity intact.

I would be happy to write the article without the need for anonymity, as I believe the more open people are about this very debilitating illness the more that can be done to help prevent it, as well as improve the support available to those who are suffering, very often, in silence.

I've emailed you as our article has just gone to press unfortunately.

Thank you so much for volunteering and well done for persevering through and coming out the other side...
