Saffron Walden

Hi,
We are soon moving to Saffron Walden from North London. We are in the catchment for RA Butler but will be on a waiting list to begin with. We are able to get our children into St Marys and just wondered if anyone could give me any advice on it. It's last Ofsted said it was improving and I like the idea of a small school...any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think that the Katherine Semar schools are very good. The infants was just rated as outstanding and the Juniors I think is rated as good and has improved immensely recently, with very good sports provision. I really would recommend them.

Thanks for your help, but I am not sure if there is space for both of my children at Katherine Semar. I will ring the council again tomorrow. Do you know anything about St Mary's?

To be honest I don't know anything about St Mary's as I wouldn't consider a faith school. I am under the impression that the worst school (if there is such) in Saffron Walden is still likely to be pretty good.

Thanks breatheslowly. Going to start the visits next week. Do you know happen to know whre I can get a copy of local activities/services...think its called "salad days" or something?

Theoretically the tourist information has copies of salad days, but it often runs out. I think that some of the estate agents also keep copies plus various other shops.

I think you can get Salad Days in the library (in the market square like tourist information).
All the primary schools are good and they'll get into County High for secondary which is VERY good.
