Can anyone recommend a good hairdresser and possibly a place to get a manicure/ pedicure and maybe even a facial? I'm due to get married in less than two months and have dry, knackered hair, dry skin and really want to look nice for the big day. Or at least not quite as knackered and old as normal.

I sometimes (when I can afford it) get my hair cut by a lady called Star who works in Headmasters (facing the Jubilee Library)- they have put their prices up recently and she now costs £55!! but she she has 30 years experience and looks very trendy and young still and seems to be able to make my greying frizzled mop look amazing and gives good tips about styling your hair yourself that are simple.

My 18 year old gets her haircut at Headmasters too but she always gets the £25 stand by appointment (book the day before but you can't request a particular stylist) and always looks great - the standby was how I got styled by Star.
I have also had my haircut/styled by a young (heavily tatooed)guy called Nick Davey who used to work at HM but recently left and works out of the Bomb on Sydney Street (a hairdressers where the cutter rents a chair - so self employed) he is really nice too and should be cheaper.
Also used to get cut/colour at Rush using Emily (but they overcharged me etc a few times so I stopped going)

Afraid I don't have (can't afford) manicures etc but have heard good things about an Aveda hair and beauty salon that has opened in North laine - again expensive. (will try and get link for you)

Aveda salon is called Shine hair and Beauty at 111 Gloucester Road (01273 604404) and website www.shinehairgroup.com. They do waxing, pedicures, manicures etc and brazilian blowdrys

Hair Empourium on Upper North Street is an Aveda Salon and offers Manicures as well as Hair Cuts/Colours. They also do Wedding packages if you were interested in that too, it's how I found them. I have Emma who is fab, but she is the most senior there so will cost more. Never had a duff cut though even when I've had someone else
