Does anyone have any experience of these classes? I have a 3 yr old who seems very musical - well shows a great interest in music anyway! Was looking for a good music class in Richmond. Maybe something more than just singing nursery rhymes. Can anyone recommend or share their experiences?

Hi, We've been taking ds to this since he was 3 months old, he's now in the toddler class and really enjoys it. There is a clear structure, with simple rhymes and songs learned and then work on louds and softs/fast and slow etc. etc., games to develop rhythmic/body awareness and percussion instruments. Because Colourstrings is a big organisation (it started in Finland, google and you'll find out about it all) there is a proper curriculum and learning goals. They aim to develop the inner ear and sense of rhythm to make it easy to learn an instrument later on. The lady who runs it, Lyn, is very experienced and plays piano in the classes as well as singing and using recordings. Hope that helps, it's best to phone Lyn to enrol, I think they're finishing next week for Easter hols.
