Where to live in Tonbridge?

Thinking of moving to Tonbridge and have seen houses in both Quarry Bank (in the South) and Orchard Drive (in the North). Any opinions on the two areas most welcome. We have an 8 yo DS, so would be nice to live in an area with a few kids around and about.

On similar lines does anyone know much about the schools that are closest to these areas, Sussex Road and Woodlands, respectively?

Thanks!

Woodlands seems good, don't know about susex rd. Quarry bank is closer to the station and most of the secondary schools, including all the grammars, but quarry hill is a busy road.tonbridge is a v nice place to live!

Tonbridge is a nice place to live. When deciding to live south or north we just walked around lots and visited local parks. The deciding factor for us was when we visited a park near the Ridgeway. It was full of pre-teens f'ing and blinding and smoking. On one ocassion a small group had set upon one young chap in a totally unprovocked attack which I had to intervene in even though I had my 3 year old with me. This gave the young man in question time to leg it but it left my heart beating like the clappers. The fact that the group did not hold their tongues or mind their language when there were quite a few little ones around really grated me.

I have never encountered that sort of behaviour in the souths parks. There were bigger groups but they were polite and suprisingly nice and courtious so we moved to the south. We have never regretted it. My son will be going to Sussex Road in september. I am happy with my allocation.
