Moving to Winchester

Hi everyone - we are thinking about going to view a house in Compton, just outside Winchester.
We are living in France at the moment, and really don't know the Winchester area, though I know it's nice.
However, are we mad considering Compton because of the M3 noise?
Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

Ooh, I am curious as to which house as we're also thinking of viewing one there. Don't really know how intrusive the Mway noise is - think you'd just have to go and see - although I have noticed it in nearby Shawford, which is the other half of the parish.

Sorry, that probably wasn't that helpful. But FWIW, it is a lovely, if ££££, part of the world and I really like living around there (am in Winch ATM).
