What sort of thing are you after? Now I have a 22mo DD I don't get out much but can recommend the Bingham if you're after somewhere smart (NB haven't been there since I was pg though so some time ago). La Buvette (or sister restaurant Brula in St Margarets) good too.

In richmond or near and what price range? Glasshouse in Kew is great (michellin starred but pricey) Kew grill also v nice but worrall thompson. Cheaper in Kew is Ma Cuisine.

figcake · 10/03/2011 20:36

What about Skye Gyngell's place at Petersham?

berri · 10/03/2011 20:40

I've heard of Bingham but had forgotten about it - definitely on the list, thanks!

We'll be getting into Richmond by train so ideally something within easy walking distance...

Don't mind what kind of cuisine, but seeing as it's a rare night out it'd be nice to go a bit posh :o

Is the Petersham one the one up on the hill? I've always thought that looks lovely when we've driven that way in the past...

Anyone heard of an Italian called Bacco? Someone else recommended it but haven't heard of it...

berri · 10/03/2011 20:52

Bacco's near the station - next to Orange Tree pub. I've heard good things but never been there myself.

Think Skye Gyngell's place is only open for lunch? Berri - If you mean the restaurant at the Petersham hotel, we've been there a couple of times for anniversaries etc as we spent our wedding night there. It's nice but everso slightly fuddy-duddy. Lovely views of the river if you get there before the sun goes down.

Kewcumber's recommendations both great too if you're coming through Gunnersbury.

Enjoy!

Ktay · 11/03/2011 08:17

Sorry by 'both' mean Ma Cuisine and Glasshouse. Never tried Wozza's place.

vbus · 11/03/2011 09:24

Can second La Buvette, its lovely.
Bacco next on my list to try, let me know if it's any good if you do go Smile

KatieMiddleton · 12/03/2011 13:59

Bacco good if it's quiet. Went for mother's day last year and couldn't cope with the large service.

Skye Grengell at Petersham Nursery is my absolute fave. And they do some evenings now. Check out P Nursery website for details. Pricey and tables on the muddy floor when it's wet but food to die for.

La Buvette ok but feels a bit old fashioned.

Glass House at Kew v good and haven't been to Ma Cusine but friend who knows about these things raves about it.

castlesintheair · 13/03/2011 11:39

Al Boccon di'vino on Paradise Road is brilliant but you have to book about a month in advance and don't eat anything for about a week before going Grin

Ninunina · 13/03/2011 21:42

I second Al Boccon divino! It's a truely authentic Italian restaurant. The owner is a little mad, but friendly. There isn't really a menu to chose from, everyone gets a number of courses like he's hosting a dinner party (anti-pasti, salad, soup, 2 pasta dishes, meat & dessert). It's about £90 for two with wine, a glass of prosecco & limoncello.

I wouldn't recommend it if you are a very fussy eater or a veggie though.

KatieMiddleton · 13/03/2011 23:07

I am very tempted to book a babysitter and take dh to Al Boccon divino. I had walked past but never been in.

Do they do lunch as well? Although il bambino is not v well behaved out these days...

ThoraNogson · 14/03/2011 15:46

Bacco is lovely, also the Glasshouse, La Buvette, Ma Cuisine, The Dragon Inn on Sheen Road.

Ktay · 14/03/2011 16:43

If you do decide to go to La Buvette, register on their website - free kirs! (if that's your sort of thing)

CountessDracula · 14/03/2011 16:46

A Cena just over the bridge is great

Bingham is good but quite fusiony (too much so for me)

CountessDracula · 14/03/2011 16:47

Glasshouse better than any of them though. I go there loads and have never been disappointed adn I am a right fussy bint

ineedsomepeaceandquiet · 14/04/2011 19:56

A Cena is great! Nicole Kidman's eaten there a few times!!!
