Oxford - pre theatre restaurant recommendation?

Hi my dd is performing in a school production at the Oxford Playhouse in April - thought we would have some pre theatre food beforehand but not sure where to book?

There are loads of places - most of the main chains are here...ASK, Bella Italia etc. Any preference on Italian/French/Pizza to narrow it down?

We recently ate at Jamie's Italian before going to the Playhouse, it's just round the corner. Can't book for fewer than 6 people but if you are early you won't need to. Service is very quick so it's ideal for pre-theatre.

oh forgot the most important thing - food is pretty good, I like it better than the other chain restaurants in the area!

what about the randolph? no idea what the food is like but its the building nest to the playhouse! or go the the ashmolean which is across the road (how lazy do i sound???!)

oh that's a good idea: the ashmolean is supposed to be lovely.

Randolph is nice but spenny for what it is and the main dining room is on the stuffy formal side.
