STONESFIELD - anyone know it - what's it like?

Am thinking of moving to Stonesfield. Have found a frankly amazing house, and the school looks okay from the website/Ofsted but I was hoping someone could yell loudly NO IT SMELLS OF PIGSHIT FOR NINE MONTHS OF THE YEAR or THERE IS A PLAN TO DIVERT THE M40 THROUGH IT etc. please?

Or tell me fantastic things about it. I'm moving from a small North Oxfordshire village and we are used to frequent power outages, crap broadband/phone services, one shop with stock from the 1950s etc. so I don't scary easy, so be blunt please? :)

Thank you!

We don't live in Stonesfield, but in a nearby village, and DH was brought up there. We looked at the school, which we both loved best of all the schools we looked at, but in the end decided to go with our local village school for convenience. The village itself has grown alot since DH lived there as a child, and has quite a lot of modern development, but is a really vibrant community, particularly strong on music. There are lots of musicians and artists living there, and lots of open studios during Art Week. The bus service to Oxford is excellent and the trains from Charlbury are also good. And the village is very lucky still to have its shop and post office. Hope that helps.

Oh, and how could I forget the excellent farm shop, Callow Farm, with the best pork in the world from their own pigs!
