Hi mums, i am a mum to two kids aged 5 and 3 and we will be moving to colchester in june.
My oh will still be commuting to london for work.
So please where would be the best place for us to rent a property, preferably close to the station and good schools.
Thank you all.

We live in Myland,Colchester. This is very close to North Station. There are lots of newish houses up here for Rent.

The school Myland Primary is excellent,as are our two Playgroups, and Privete Day Nurseries.

There is a Co-op,Pub,2 churches with Church halls.

There is also a nice big park.

There is a sense of community too,as all the leaders to the community groups are well-known,and all know each other.

Not sure about the other areas of Colchester,as we moved here in 2007.But we are very happy with our choice.Smile

The station side of town is pretty nice it depends on how close you want to be to the station and what type of place/house you like, for example if you prefer a village West Bergholt and Great Horksley are a very short drive if you like a village, if you like townhouse style the houses on Bergholt road are often in walking distance to the station - the places I would avoid are parts of Highwoods, Greenstead and Monkwick the last two areas are a bit of a distance from the station so probably wont even come up.

I also like Myland - My mums just moved there and its lovely.

Thank you all for your replying. Its great to have some feed back. And yes sawyer64 am the one on the other site.
Henwelly, the parts you mentioned i should avoid, have already been blacklisted as i have been previously informed too to keep away from those areas.
We only want houses close to the station, since my husband will be commuting to london.

You can also look at marks they which is on the mainline and is just on the west side. Copford is good with excellent primary and good selection of houses

Manningtree also has a station. It is a nice town, ( the smallest in England) and the surrounding villages of Mistley and Bradfield are lovely and have good bus services. The house prices are very reasonable, and although they seem far out of town, they are easily accessible for Colchester and harwich. Definitely worth a look.
