Heating/electrician/thingy recommendations

Not sure if I need a plumber or an electrician or a specialist heating guy.

Does anyone know of a man or woman who would be willing to look at my boiler/timer/heating/hot water system and tell me if it's possible to wire in a nice digital thermostat? (we already have the thermostat from a previous house, which had a much simpler system)

And if the answer is yes, to then do it?

And how much should it cost for someone to do this?

And should they have any particular qualifications?

Anyone know someone, or know what I should be looking for?

You need a heating engineer, I think. Generally, they are also plumbers with a Corgi registration for fiddling about with the gas supply. I used these guys when I lived up your way, for servicing the heating system and general plumbing stuff.

Why do you need to add the thermostat? Doesn't your system have one already?

Thanks for the recommendation. I mean the kind of thermostat that you have in the living room and it tells the heating system how hot it is and whether it needs to go on/off. I've found lots of houses don't have one. All we have is a timer.

These people installed one of those in for us (among many other things). They were great, we are v. happy.

Would also recommend the company the PissedOffFairy () recommended. They have changed names recently. Over the years they have done many jobs in our home: put in a new fuseboard and other electrical jobs, installed our bathroom and utility room, replaced the boiler and serviced it ever since. Every time the service has been absolutely excellent.
