HI all,

I've just registered today so I could come on and get some first hand information from people who might actually know what they're talking about.

My family is relocating (due to husbands job) to Herts and we have been considering Stotfold (which I've now learned is in beds although it keeps popping up as herts on rightmove etc..) since it has a nice house that we both like.

Problem is, I can't find any information out about the area (online or from anyone I know) and neither can my husband.

I can't decide if that is a good or a bad thing!

Can anybody tell me about the area; schools, facilities, nearby towns, etc...

Also, baldock/letchworth/hitchin - can anybody briefly summarise the pro's and cons and which, in their opinion is the nicest one for a family (myself, DH and 3 DS's (6, 3 and 1)

many thanks

I'm waiting for my house in Stotfold to finish being built but should be moving in about a months time. It's quite quiet from what I've seen and a nice fairly small village which is what attracted us to the area but plus side is it's only a short drive to Letchworth and Stevenage which have all the big supermarkets, restaurants etc.
Here's the town council website:-

not sure about schools personally because my DD is only 6 months. Hope this helps

Hi,
I live in Stotfold ( Fairfield Park). I used to live in Hitchin up until the baby was born last year
Hitchin is really lovely but has lots of not nice areas so watch out
Fairfield Park has lovely houses and it is only 10 min drive from Hitchin. Here there are coffee mornings with other mums every tuesday and thursdays
I think the same happens in Hitchin but cant give you much details
Let me know if you need anything I can help with

Ooh hello. Mind if I hijack? We're going to be moving into the area [arlesey / henlow / fairfield park] in the next couple of months and I'd love to find out about mum and baby activities and coffee mornings etc.

I have a 5 month old DD and will be going back to work [in London] from June so will be commuting from Letchworth.

Hello, I’m in the stages of buying our first house in Fairfield Park in Stotfold. Really hope it’s a lovely place to live, it seemed it when we came to view.

We are relocating from renting in Napsbury Park near London Colney / St Albans - we have a 2 year old daughter and will need to apply for a school for her in Oct 2025. I am hoping the school on the development is still very good and we would have a good chance of getting in? Are there any other schools people recommend also?

I’d love to meet some other mums and families who live there / nearby as don’t know anyone else living this way so would be great to be sociable and not feel lonely!

Where do people recommend for nice walks and family activities too?

Thank you,
Lauren x
