Guildford Nurseries

Hi, we're thinking of moving to Guildford in the summer and have so far looked at the Castle Hill and Asquith nurseries for our 2 year old - does anyone have any experience of them, good or bad? Likewise, does anyone have any recommendations for other nurseries? Whilst it depends on where we live, the wait lists seem to be six months long, so we'll have to put her name down before we know where we're going to move exactly!

Thanks.

Hiya, my godson who is now 13 months goes to this place www.guildfordchildrenscentre.surrey.sch.uk/

They visited a lot of nurseries and liked this the best. Good outside play area and friendly staff. They also do other non nursery classes here so it could be a great way for you to meet other moms in the area.

Hi

Christchurch Pre-school Playgroup is the best! Outstanding Ofsted. I wanted my son to go when I moved here but couldn't get in. My daughter went and I've just put my 3rd child in. It's lovely, caring staff, new outside space being developed, plenty of space inside the hall. Great parents!! Google them and get the new website they are developing. My son eventually went to Castle instead which I would only recommend if you work and need the all day childcare. Asquith gets mixed reviews locally. Children's Centre always given good reviews locally. Get on the lists quick it's pretty tricky to get in some of them but really important to get it right.

Hi my daughter goes to Fitzsimmons Place as do the DCs of 3 of our friends (we were friends before the nursery iyswim). She loves it, we love it. Agree on Asquith - heard bad things. One of my friends is at Castle and finds it ok.

If you are not looking for full time nursery cover, I can't recommend Guildford Montessori Nursery enough but it is only open in the mornings. My 6 yo went there and learnt more there than he did in his first year at school - not in terms of phonics but things like what magnets and volcanoes are, how planets orbit (they taught him using salad spinners!). My 3 yo is there now and it is still amazing - he is the family expert on the Gunpowder plot because of the nursery. Don't be put off by the lack of outside space there - they use it amazingly.
