Any play places in Guildford town centre?

I live about 15 minutes from Guildford and take DD (age 2.5) there at least once a month to get her hair cut at Trotter's.

I'd like to be able to spent a bit longer in the shops once we're there - she is no longer of an age where I can strap her into her buggy whilst I browse.

We tend to park in the Bedford Road car park and part of the problem is that, en route to Trotters, we go through the Westfield Friary Centre and she sees the play area outside Primark and all of the ride-on toys. So by the time she's had her hair cut, she just wants to go back to those. And kicks up merry hell if I dare to turn the buggy the other way! E-v-e-r-y time.

Are there any play places or good kids' areas in bookshops on the High Street or on side streets where I could take her or promise to take her, so I can sneak a look at some shops whilst we're there?

(If not, anyone want to go into business with me setting one up? - I'm only half-joking!)

Thank you exhaustednurse, so sorry have only just seen your suggestions!

Going into Guildford next week (half-term this week so avoiding!) so will give Waterstone's and/or the library a go. Hoping to avoid having to buy something for DD in the process...

That sounds good too, thanks!

Hehe, mine love that mini softplay outside Primark too.

Yes the castle grounds are excellent. We always buy takeaway sandwiches for lunch and go and sit out there (in the summer anyway). The grounds extend a fir way up from the castle too.

Also for something to do DD loves to go to the art gallery on the High Street (Guildford House Gallery). They have art stuff for the kids to use. We pick a room and one or two pictures and have a close look and a bit of a chat, then try and draw a few things.

We do play in Trotters/ELC/Waterstones too. Waterstones have a Costas over a little bridge which my 2 like to play on (probably winds everyone else up!)

Guildford could really do with a softplay centrally located though!

Hello, I just wanted to add how lovely I thought Tiddlers play gym was, my baby is 10 months and crawling, into everything, and he absolutely loved the soft play you have. I loved seeing him crawl through the tunnel, he really enjoyed the ball pool and I mostly enjoyed the fact that it was so clean, (no chip smell) Di and Jo are really friendly, and there is excellent parking!
