Watson's nursery

We are looking at various nurseries for DD, both state & private.

At the moment Watson's is the front-runner - we were really impressed when we visited.

We had initially thought of sending her for morning only but feel that the facilities and atmosphere are better for the day nursery (8.45 to 3pm) as it's in the main LP building.

I seem to remember a couple of people on here mentioning that their DCs go/went to Watson's nursery, and wonder if anyone has any thoughts on the morning/full day options?

Hi there, DS goes to the day nursery and we have just received confirmation today that he has a place in the primary (YAY).

We are very impressed with the nursery and the facilities. The full day is 8.45-9.00am with pick up 2.45 - 3.00. DS seems to cope with it fine and is only tired when I pick him up from nursery plus the two days a week he goes there. Also as he is used to a school day I'm not worried that he won't cope when he starts primary as thats what he is used to.

I'm not sure of the differences between morning and full day difference, I know that the morning parents have a more active social life as I see a board up when I pick DS from Nursery plus where they have all their nights out scheduled.

I'm afraid I don't know anyone who has a child at morning nursery, a potential downside for it would be that the car parks are shut at letting out time.

I'm sure both are good, it's probably more a question of what suits your requirements better and if your DD will be able to cope with a full day 5 days a week.

Thanks Rookiemater - and great news that your DS has a place in P1! Hope he'll be v happy there - it's a great school.

Did your DS go to nursery before he started at Watson's? DD hasn't as yet, but will prob go to playgroup a few mornings a week next year before she's due to start nursery in Aug 2012. That would help her make the adjustment but it's still a bit of a jump.

Am really not sure what we should do for the best - but v good to hear that it's working well for your DS, thanks for your help.

Ps, also meant to ask what is probably a really daft question - can they miss days of nursery/go on holiday during term-time etc? You'd obviously have to pay for it anyway but I don't know if it's as rigid in terms of attendance as it will be in primary school.

No its fine to take them out during term-time, we tend not to seeing as we have paid so much for him to be there!
Also the holiday dates are slightly different from the state schools so not too expensive if you book in advance.

Sorry forgot to respond to your other question. DS went to local preschool in the afternoons for the year before he started nursery. It was good because it meant the structure of nursery wasn't a surprise to DS when he started at Watsons.
