Somewhere nice to stay near Bishops Stortford?

We need somewhere to stay in the next few days for one night. We'd like a hotel which isn't actually in the airport or right next to it.
Can anyone recommend a hotel? It doesn't have to be too fancy. Just clean and your basics.

Little Hallingbury Mill or Great Hallingbury Manor are both hotels just outside Bishops Stortford.

The Cottage is a guest-house in Birchanger but if you want to go shopping or anything in Bishops Stortford you would need a car or be prepared to pay for a cab. Nearby there is also the Travelodge.

Pearse House is in Bishops Stortford itself.

I knew it had financial problems but how can the only hotel in Bishops Stortford be losing money when its so busy?

Apparently owner's ill health and a big drop in business. It's voluntary liquidation not administration, I got that wrong (not that I really know the difference!)
