Brighton - need a child friendly pub (or cafe) for this afternoon, any ideas?

I'm going with two girlfriends to the pub, with DS (2) in tow. DS is only manageable in pubs where they don't really mind little ones as he won't sit still on a table - he'll want to explore.

Anything that is at all like a restaurant is out - i.e. lots of tables, where other people will be annoyed by a toddler roaming about - with me following.

Can anyone recommend one?

TIA Smile

Central Brighton would be great, or Hove / Moulsecoomb.

The Stoneham pub on Portland Rd in Hove is mummy central! Looks like you need a baby or toddler to get in! Lovely pizzas and kids roaming everywhere at the weekends, probably not as busy in the week.
Have a nice time Smile

Or try the Signalman or the Open House pubs around the ditchling road/ preston park area, or the Park View near Preston Park, may be a bit nearer. Can you tell I spend my life in pubs with children Blush

Thanks slinkypinky, the Stoneham looks great

Preston Park a bit far for this excursion, but my friends have just moved there so I'll hold those up my sleeve. Actually the Park View is one of the few pubs I do know here! Not been to the Signalman yet.

Any other suggestions for future reference gratefully received!

The Gladstone on lewes Road is very child friendly and there are always little ones running around in the back room and garden. Also The George, just off old steine - I take ds there quite a lot and hes never been the only lo in there.

Thanks Nevereatyellowsnow, I think that would definitely be a good one for next time, I know the Gladstone and last time I was in there, there were a couple of DCs in there actually!

I don't know the George, I'll investigate Grin

Where we went the other day was a nightmare actually. Open fires, growly dogs, a disapproving grumpy old man and DS in a running around and shouting mood! I abandoned ship in the end Sad But you live and learn. That particular pub is off the list but I've not given up yet!
