Westbury Park / Westbury on Trym

Hi

I am new to mumsnet. We have just moved to Bristol and are currently renting here and exploring different areas ahead of buying a house. We want a family home in an area with other young families - we were thinking Westbury Park or Westbury on Trym? I am just wondering if there are any thoughts on these areas and also if anyone knows the best roads to live on within these areas.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Best wishes

Shelley

I live in Westbury on Trym and really enjoy living here. I find it very friendly and family oriented. If you have young children and are likely to need places in a state school, they are all very good but horrendously over subscribed so the "best roads" are those nearest to the schools. In my humble opinion Westbury Park is more upmarket than Westbury on Trym and you tend to find Edwardian/Georgian houses whereas Westbury on Trym has far more 1930s semis. Depends what you are looking for, and what the budget is really.....

Hi shelbelle

I moved to Bristol in March, we rented in Henleaze which was a nice place, and just down the road from Henleaze Infants and Juniors which I'm told is very good (DD is 2 so don't have experience of the schools). I loved Henleaze, several families and the High Street is nice. We now live in Stoke Bishop and our neighbours are all friendly and several young families, Reedley Road area.
Good luck with the buy!
