Abingdon Primary Schools - advice please!

Hi All

We are hoping to relocate to Abingdon in the summer and looking at getting DD (aged 8) into a good primary school. I've heard good things about St Nick, Rush Common and Thomas Reade but would love to hear what other mums think. Also, any information about things that go on in Abingdon for families (I also have a DS who is nearly 1)

Thanks in advance!

Jules

Hi Jules.

Have a look at this thread for some ideas and to maybe meet up with others moving here!

Abingdon is great for young children - loads of toddler groups and classes. There is something happening every day. Abbey Meadows is a lovely park and there are lots of great walks/cycle rides in the summer and there is a great sports centre with a creche.

To be honest, all the schools in Abingdon are pretty good and DD1 goes to one that isn't thought of as great (Caldecott) but I am really happy with it - don't be put off by their results, they are squewed by the fact they have a lot of SEN kids from all over the county as they have a language skills centre there. Its a lovely school and the staff really care about the kids. Their OFSTEAD went from Satisfactory to Good and i know the head has ambitions tomake it Outstanding by the next one.

The three you mention are thought of as the best and as a result can get heavily oversubscribed. You will find properties in their catchment areas quite a bit more expensive.
