Hi

Does anyone know of any local parenting classes suitable for a mum of a 4 year old? Have googled but couldn't find anything suitable.

Bristol community family Trust runs parenting courses for 0-5 years and 5 - 11 years. they are starting another course soon. Their phone no. is 0117 924 1480 web site www.bcft.co.uk and click on the parenting link. I did the 5-11 years course and found it very helpful.

Thanks for the suggestion - I did see that one but didn't think the age range was quite right. It might be worth me hanging on a year for that one.

there are free courses for all parents run by SPAN (strengthening families strengthening communities) and by Bristol City Council Parent Support Team (Triple P and Incredible Years. The funding for these runs out March this year so worth doing now - the latter are funded for school aged children but that includes 4 y olds and up. Most of the courses had tasters this week so you can still join classes next week if you're quick. Call FIS on 0845 129 7217. You can see the programme of courses various ways including 1 big D, the BCC web page is www.bristol-cyps.org.uk/policies/pdf/parenting-support-courses.pdf

Incredible Years is generally more suited to the younger age. You get a free manual on the course. There is one on Weds evening at Summerhill Primary (7 - 9) - it started this week but okay to join in next week, or henbury Court Primary on thursdays 1 - 3. All courses are fine though so if Triple P locations/times suit you better go for that.

Hope that's helpful
