Swimming

Hi there,
I live in Tring. I am looking for a local swimming pool- Berkhamsted/Aylesbury/Hemel Hempstead/any others (!) to take my 4 year old DS.
He is quite cautious in the water so I'd rather take him somewhere calm and possibly where they've got a separate kiddie pool. Any recommendations? Thanks.

here is Dacorum. It also includes the pool in Berkhamsted/ Northchurch.

Cheers. I was wondering if anyone had any first hand tips on nature of actual pools- has anyone been to the Water confidence pool in Hemel. Is it worth traiping over there rather than trying Tring pool at a quiet time? Thinking DS may be more confident somewhere a bit shallower?

Hemel kids pool is warmer than Berko main pool, which is the big advantage for young children who can't yet swim enough to stay warm.

Having said that, we use Berko pool and as long as we keep moving, our son finds it OK. Berko pool can be very quiet early on Sunday mornings (I'm told it is because lots of people with kids are at church, given that we have two church schools locally).

Aylesbury has a shallow pool with slides etc, good for water confidence, but not much space for actual swimming in that particular pool. There is then a separate pool next to the one with slides for swimming. It is shallower than Berko but I'm afraid I'm not sure whether a 4yo would reach the bottom - my son is smaller and is way off being able to put his feet down. Downside is that it gets really busy, so fairly difficult to find a calm quiet corner.

Hope this helps.

Chesham is usually quite warm. Steps down into the water. My 4yo can stand up in it although he is pretty tall

My friend offers swimming lessons and she's brilliant with the less confident kids (and the confident ones!). Her swim school is called Swimezee and comes up on google. the lessons are mainly in Aylesbury.

Aylesbury is good - Kids under 5 go free, just pay for yourself - there is a shallow play area, small pool et al.
