I booked tickets for today's 'Snow White on Ice' to take dd (5). We had to give up and come home - because I could not find a parking place. I got up past Mitchum's corner and thought I might get in front of a shop up there - but we were already late and it is a long walk for a 5 yr-old.

50 quid down the toilet and I am well Angry not sure who with exactly though. I see there was also a match on today.

I feel your pain - dh went up to visit his family in leicestershire yesterday - on his way home it took him 40 minutes to get to the outskirts of Cambridge and an hour to get home (other side of town) Not quite parking, but just shows how rubbish we are here regarding traffic at times!

Dare I say, go by P&R next time?

I've had a couple of bad experiences with the P & P, when I had to be in town to teach. I'll get dh to drop us next time.

Just wanted to add, that dh called the Corn Exchange today and they have reserved new seats for us for Fri afternoon, which I thought was very good of them given they can hardly be held responsible for the traffic.

Good for them.

Cambridge can be such a nightmare to park. And don't get me started on the price!!

And whilst P&R can be good value for money, I have also had bad experiences in the past. Last Christmas was pregnant and stuck in the freezing cold for well over an hour waiting for a bus which was then packed (standing room only and nearly didn't get on at all) and then took almost another hour to get through the traffic up to Milton. Started queueing for the bus at 4.15 and came very close to missing my daughter's 6pm nursery pick up. Xmas Angry

Parking is free in Gurney Way and Gilbert Road but it might be a bit far.

De Frevilles Avenue and surrounding roads (check some are residents)

And you can try the council at castle, 5 pounds per day, in castle street (near mound).
