New maternity unit at Broomfield?

Has anyone given birth in the new maternity unit at Broomfield that opened last month? Any sense of what it's like would be very welcome as they don't let you in until D day!

Do they really not allow you in? How is that meant to make you relaxed? It would be my local if I ever get there (ttc)

Yes - they stopped tours of St Johns a year ago due to swine flu, and now seem quite happy that the precedent is in place and have no intention of re-instating them. Not very helpful when it's a brand new unit!

Right, Home Birth for me again then!

I gave birth there eight week ago and it was lovely, very clean etc but a bit hectic as it had only just moved over.

Best thing is they now have gas and air on tap :)

The shop is rubbish and overpriced though so take plenty of drinks and snacks.

Any specific questions?

Ooh, ooh, Wannabe, I've got a couple of incredibly shallow questions, if you don't mind? I'm going in for a c-section this July, so I'll be in for a few days I imagine. I had a c-section at St Johns four years ago, so I know what to expect roughly, but is the food any good at Broomfield? Or will my husband be needing to bring me in Tupperware boxes of dinner??

Also, when I was at St John's, we didn't need to bring nappies or bottles with us - they provided everything. Do you need to bring anything now? I heard from someone it had changed and you now needed to bring all the gubbins yourself.
