Can anyone recommend a nice Santa's grotto in Brighton/Hove or within a few miles? I want to avoid Churchhill Square if possible.

There is one at Brighton Marina. Free, I think.

Garden Centre near racecourse?

The royal pavilion have one. Very nice but take proof of residency when you book to make it cheaper. You could combine it with a trip to the ice rink in the grounds although it is pricey!
