What's going on at Queens School in Kew?

Hello all.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my last thread asking for assistance with primary admissions.

Okay, latest dilemma is this: I really fancy putting Queens School down and I am due to go for a look around. BUT a little bird told me that a certain important member of staff has been suspended.

Is this right or just total garbage?

How about ringing the school and asking them if the rumours are true?

Kewcumber · 13/12/2010 20:25

yes it is right but school are not discussing the reason. As far as I know none of the paretns know.

NewInKew · 14/12/2010 10:51

Oooooh. Fascinating stuff. Hoping DD is going there in September. Kewcumber - do you know who it is who is suspended? I know that some people haven't been too happy with the new Head. Is it her?

mummyquilliam · 14/12/2010 13:37

ooooo now i'm curious if anyone finds out could you let me know

Kewcumber · 14/12/2010 19:15

yes it is teh new head. If I hear any more will let you know!

castlesintheair · 15/12/2010 19:51

I heard today that it is either something to do with results or staff bullying

Kewcumber · 15/12/2010 20:03

well they aretop of the published results in todays times so I can;t imagine its results.

Panteramum · 16/12/2010 10:57

Hiya folks. I've been doing a bit of asking around and it seems no one knows or is willing to say that real reason, but it seems there were tensions between the head and other parties but from what ive been told she was a really sweet person and it could have been the whole pressure cooker atmosphere which caused it. im just putting 2+2 together and p[robably getting 25 but check out the schools website. one of the archive newsletters i read from back in september carried a note from the head to all parents telling them not to get stressed just because the school wasnt in the sunday times top 200 schools chart.
i mean theyre top of the pops for the borough as it is. youd think that was enough.

but they are graded 2 offsted and riverside is a 1 - maybe that the stressor Wink! Common or garden community school with a wider social intake with a higher offsted rating(not that offsted or exam results id the be all and end all!)

Interestingly Riverside didn't publish their results so no idea if the results are comparable.

Haha! This is hilarious and sad in equal measures. Why on earth would anyone even consider sending their child to a school like that? Seriously. That's all kinds of fucked up.

Deaddei · 10/01/2011 14:17

Interesting.
I called the school today to speak to head and was told by sec that she no longer works there.
A Head from another RIchmond school is interim.
I knew she had ruffled a few feathers.

NewInKew · 12/01/2011 11:07

Very interesting indeed! Thanks for sharing the inside scoop Deaddei. I work at one of the local after school clubs where plenty of kids from Queens go so will try and gather some more info for us...

Deaddei · 12/01/2011 11:08

(waits to hear the news......)

castlesintheair · 17/01/2011 16:55

The head has been suspended (pending equiry I believe) and there are 2 acting heads, one of whom is the head at my own DC's school within the borough.

I have heard that she was forced out by the majority of parents who were very against her state school ethos. The official line is fiddling results and staff bullying, as I said in my post last year.

Deaddei · 18/01/2011 09:41

Funny how she was incredibly successful at her last outstanding school.
Thanks for the update castlesintheair...I hope the enquiry comes out in her favour.

harrassedswlondonmum · 18/01/2011 21:46

Well we parents will probably never know what she did but it must have been serious. She is not coming back. Already the whole atmosphere of the place has lifted and it is the welcoming, happy school it always used to be. We have a lovely interim head in place and there's a very positive atmosphere among parents and staff.

Deaddei · 04/02/2011 18:45

I see the post has been advertised...,.any news on what she did specifically?

Suzihaha · 15/02/2011 19:57

Oh no, I love that school - went there as a child many years ago.

I hope it is all fine now; I have so many happy memories there Smile

Kewcumber · 16/02/2011 15:39

No news and I doubt there will be I guess there has been an agreement for both sides to keep thier mouths shut.. Interim head I gather has come out of retirement to cover hence need to advertise.
