Varndean/Stringer - a question

DD is in year 6 and has put these two as her choices for next year. We both thought both schools were great and would be happy with either. I forgot to ask when we went round though how/if the schools streamed/set the children. Rather than phone the school and feel like a pushy parent, could anyone on here tell me if the schools do set, if so, when from, and do they use the KS2 SATs scores, or do they do their own CAT/other measurement tool?

It would be helpful to know so I can support DD appropriately and maybe help her not to stress too much about SATS...

Thanks in advance!

OK from memory, as DS1 has now, left I think Dorothy Stringer stream from year 7 in English and Maths not sure about science and they stream for languages in year 8, I think. Shall ask DS1 when he gets back from college. Sorry to be so vague.

Oh and I think they use both SAT's and CAT's to set the groups.

Can really recommend Stringer DS1 had a fantastic time there and did really well. Know quite a few kids who went to Varndean and they all seemed happy and successful too.

Good luck to your DD. Hope you get in to one of them.
