This is my first post here so please excuse everything it's obvious I don't know about mumsnet, thanks - I'm a bit of a newbie and after looking around mumsnet I'm not sure this message is going to get me anywhere, but here goes.

I thought about posting it in Dadsnet but I figured Local is more to the point.

I pick up my 1-year old from nursery at 3:30pm and we have until supper at 6. I've only been looking after her since October and at the start while the playgrounds weren't deserted it seemed fun but now I'm getting that isolated feeling because I often don't speak to anyone else at all.

I've found loads of things to do including playgrounds, swimming, zoo, feeding ducks etc but I'd like at least once a week to do something sociable.

Is there anything I'm missing where other parents are hanging out around that time? Or are there any other dads out there who want to do something sociable in the area?

most of the groups in afternoon are on 1-3 so a bit earlier but if i remember correctly then caxton house in archway is on til about 4.30? i know not exactly finsbury park but its not that far, its on saint johns road, i think its mondays and thursdays
otherwise libraries tend to be open to about 5pm and sometimes see quite a few parents taking their children in after school finishes so that could be worth a try around that time

OK, I'll check out Caxton House.

I do use the library once a week, it's good.

Thanks.

Hi there. We have just moved to Stroud Green. Are there any parents of 8yrs+ girls in this area? My 10 year old doesn't go to school locally and we would like to find new friends around here....
