Where to buy maternity clothes in Cambridge?

I'm getting desperate for maternity clothes now, as nothing fits anymore. But when I went into Cambridge the other week, I was bitterly disappointed - there are only very few places that sell them! Nothing in M&S, John Lewis, H&M, Next - and they all do mat wear, just don't stock it in Cambridge Shock. Only found a few clothes in Gap on Market Hill and in New Look in the Grand Arcade.

So where can I find maternity clothes? Is there anything in/around the Grafton Centre? I didn't go there yet. Some friends have actually said that Cambridge is really dire in terms of mat wear, they all went elsewhere to get it.... And I don't fany buying stuff on the internet, as I usually end up having to send most of it back.

Any advice is much appreciated!

They do sell them in Cambridge stores too. Next at the Grafton sell them and are really quite nice, New look in Grand Arcade have a fair bit, Top Shop Grand Arcade also a fair bit also Mothercare at Grafton but they are hit and miss. Can't think of anymore at the mo.

Odd, isn't it, with the high birthrate here?

I had to get almost everything on the internet in the end. Plus a pair of (non-mat) roll-top jersey trousers from the White Company which have worked all the way through to 39 weeks.

Perhaps H&M at Grafton Centre has some. That's where their baby clothes are.

Would recommend avoiding mothercare, they will just raise your blood pressure by offering crap customer service and saying "We can order it in" about anything you want in a size other than 6 or 20. Mine's mostly from Gap and a couple of things from Top Shop in the Grand Arcade, I don't think H&M do maternity in Cam, have asked but they said not?!

Oh Zara apparently has some but it seemed to be sum total of 2 blouses and a pair of trousers Hmm

JBrd · 17/11/2010 09:21

Thanks all - this looks pretty dire, doesn't it? Might have to take a day and go to London for this... Or Lakeside...sigh

Yes, been to Zara, and they really don't have a lot at all (about half a rack with some horrible looking leggings in size 6). H&M are like the other - they do maternity wear, but don't stock it in Cambridge. I wonder why that is?!? Seems odd.

i resorted to buying online, as it was awful, and absolutely nothing smart here, even norwich is better

JumpJockey · 17/11/2010 09:37

There is that place out at Histon which people always talk about, they do slings and maternity clothes apparently

never been myself though

JumpJockey · 17/11/2010 09:37

AAAAARGH! according to the 'about us' page (*which I should have checked first) they stopped selling maternity clothes in October 2010 Angry why on earth...?

mell242 · 17/11/2010 10:41

Yes, shop in Histon has closed. Think New Look do a maternity range.

Bean83 · 17/11/2010 12:47

Dorothy Perkins (the one in the Grafton I think) does some mat wear, but they have more online, also Red Herring in Debenhams does some and I think that Pumkin Patch in Grafton does some also. It's so annoying shops either don't stock stuff in their Cambridge shops or they have a very limited range. I ended up buying a waist extension for my trousers and larger size normal stretchy tops.

Fourleaf · 23/11/2010 18:27

Such a shame about Truly Bumptious (Histon shop). I got all my best maternity stuff there - some lovely Jojo Maman Bebe tops etc at a fraction of their original price.
Ah well... the grafton centre is definitely your best bet - Dorothy Perkins (I got a lovely dress there), Mothercare (good jeans), Debenhams. Still, I agree it's thin on the ground. Someone could make a mint opening a good maternity clothes shop...
Oh, one thing I found helpful (in the later stages) was going to Asda and getting leggings, cardi's etc v.v. cheap in v.v. large sizes! Not the best fit but OK at 38 weeks! :)

Try The Maternity Boutique in Fowlmere near Royston, huge range of NEW maternity & nursing clothing.

I think Debenhams in the Grafton Centre had some Red Herring maternity wear and its next to New Look

SoftSheen · 08/09/2014 19:48

JoJoMamanBebe just off the market square have a reasonable selection.

LabMonkey · 09/09/2014 16:49

Debenhams in the Grafton no longer stocks any maternity wear.

New Look in the Grafton does but I would suggest avoiding them - I returned some maternity clothes a week ago after discovering at 16 weeks that my baby was not vbiable and the manager was awful. I had to give a reason for returning the clothes. I understand it's their returns policy but when I asked, politely, that she feedback to HQ that this might not be appropriate in the case of returning maternity wear she got very rude and aggressive.

There's a shop in Royston which only sells maternity clothes - you can googhle it and it comes up.

I think whoever started this thread in 2010 is probably no longer pregnant :-)

However, for anyone else looking there is a second hand baby and maternity clothes shop in Fulbourn. There is also a shop next door selling older children's clothes too (up to about aged 10). Not sure exactly how much maternity stuff they have as I have never been in there when pregnant - but I buy a lot of kids clothes in there.

Lizardc · 12/09/2014 09:10

So sorry to hear about your baby, Labmonkey :(

Thank you Lizard
